A 29-year-old man from New Brunswick, Peter Fragoso, has been formally charged with attempted murder following a stabbing incident at a Durham Avenue residence on December 3. Fragoso is currently being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center, where he faces multiple serious charges, including first-degree attempted murder, two counts of weapons possession, and criminal obstruction.

According to police reports, the stabbing occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. on December 3. Responding officers found a 23-year-old Long Branch man inside the home suffering from multiple knife wounds. The victim was immediately transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he received urgent medical care. Authorities have described his injuries as serious, but they have not disclosed any updates regarding his current condition.

The investigation was led by Detectives Robert Ring of the borough police and Stephanie Redline of Middlesex County. Through their joint efforts, Fragoso was identified as the alleged suspect. He was subsequently arrested on December 4 and charged in connection with the attack. Fragoso is scheduled to appear for arraignment in the state Superior Court on December 12.

Police officials have called on the public to provide any additional information that could assist in the investigation. Anyone with knowledge of the incident is urged to contact Detective Ring at (732) 632-8501 or Detective Redline at (732) 745-3316. Authorities emphasized that community cooperation is essential in ensuring that justice is served and that incidents like this are properly investigated.

Officials also reminded the public that Fragoso, like all individuals accused of a crime, is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The charges he faces are serious, and the case will proceed through the judicial system where evidence will be reviewed and evaluated according to legal standards.

This incident has raised concern within the local community, as violent attacks in residential neighborhoods are relatively rare in the area. Residents are being encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement to ensure community safety.

The investigation into the stabbing remains ongoing, and police have pledged to provide updates as new information becomes available.
