The Canadian government has announced a major employment opportunity for Indians and international students, offering high-paying census jobs that can earn up to ₹2,000 per hour. The hiring drive includes more than 32,000 vacancies across the country and is open to individuals holding a valid work permit.
The recruitment is being conducted by Statistics Canada, the national statistical office responsible for conducting the country’s population census. International students with a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) and other valid work permit holders are eligible to apply.
According to Statistics Canada, selected candidates will earn between CAD 25.87 and CAD 31.32 per hour, depending on the role. These jobs involve flexible working hours, making them especially attractive for students who want to earn while continuing their studies.
There are two main positions available. Enumerators will visit households to collect completed census questionnaires. This role requires a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week, with most work scheduled during evenings and weekends. The job is well-suited for part-time workers and students.
The second role is Crew Leader, a full-time position responsible for supervising enumerators and managing census operations in assigned areas. Crew Leaders are expected to work around 40 hours per week, including possible weekend shifts, and handle coordination, reporting, and quality checks.
Applications for these census jobs must be submitted through the official Statistics Canada website. The selection process includes screening, reference checks, and an interview. Only candidates who successfully clear all stages will be offered employment.
This recruitment drive is being seen as a valuable opportunity for Indians in Canada to secure well-paid temporary government work while gaining Canadian professional experience.
