Kushal Das Dies At 66, Former Indian Football Chief

Former Indian football official Kushal Das has passed away at the age of 66 in New Delhi. His death was confirmed on Friday. He is survived by his wife and two sons. This news has brought sadness to the Indian football community.

Kushal Das served as the general secretary of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) for 12 years. He stepped down in 2022 due to health reasons. During his time in office, he helped improve football administration in India.

One of his biggest achievements was playing an important role in bringing the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup to India. The tournament was seen as a major moment for Indian football. It also recorded high attendance in FIFA youth World Cup history.

Under his leadership, India also secured hosting rights for major tournaments, including the 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup and the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Das helped strengthen football development programs in India. He supported youth leagues and new systems to improve player training. He also worked on financial stability for the federation.

Before joining AIFF in 2010, he worked in international organizations. He was a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at the International Cricket Council (ICC) in Dubai. He also worked with global companies such as PwC, GSK, and Shell.

Football officials and leaders expressed their condolences after the news of his death. They said his contribution to Indian football will always be remembered.

Kushal Das’s work helped shape the growth of football in India and left a lasting impact on the sport’s development in the country.
