Boil-Water Advisory Issued in Montréal’s Ville-Marie Borough

Post by : Samiksha

Residents in the Ville-Marie borough of Montréal, Québec are under a precautionary boil-water advisory until further notice, the City of Montréal confirmed on Sunday. The advisory was issued after concerns about the safety of tap water prompted local authorities to take preventative measures.

The advisory affects several neighbourhoods, including Île Sainte-Hélène, Île Notre-Dame and the Habitat 67 housing complex, where residents are now being asked to boil tap water for at least one minute before drinking, preparing beverages or brushing their teeth to ensure it is safe for consumption.

City officials noted that unboiled tap water can still be used for household hygiene and non-consumptive purposes such as washing dishes or bathing, as long as it is not ingested. At this time, authorities have not provided a timeline for when the advisory might be lifted or explained what triggered the precaution.

The boil-water notice will remain in effect until further notice, and residents are advised to follow the guidance until public health officials determine that tap water is safe to drink again.
