Food delivery giant Zomato has increased its platform fee to Rs 14.90 per order, up from Rs 12.50 earlier. This new fee is before GST and is part of the company’s latest price revision. The last time Zomato increased this fee was in September 2025.
The platform fee is a small charge added to every order placed through the app. With this hike, customers will now see a slightly higher total bill when ordering food online. The move comes at a time when delivery costs are rising due to higher fuel prices.
Zomato’s main rival, Swiggy, is currently charging a similar platform fee of Rs 14.99 per order after taxes. Both companies often adjust their pricing in a similar way, keeping close competition in the food delivery market.
At the same time, new competition is entering the space. Rapido has recently launched its own food delivery service called Ownly in Bengaluru. The company has said it will not charge extra fees apart from the delivery charge, which may attract more customers.
Experts say the increase in platform fees is also linked to rising crude oil prices. Higher fuel costs make deliveries more expensive for companies, which may lead to higher charges for users.
For customers, this means paying more for each order, even as companies continue to compete and expand their services in India’s growing food delivery market.
