England Urged to Rethink Strategy to Revive Ashes

A special BBQ event took place in Listowel on Tuesday, June 24, where the community came together to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis. The event was hosted in the parking lot of Van Allen Insurance and has now become a yearly tradition.
This fundraiser began back in 2013, when the owner, Shane Van Allen, found out that his young son, Wade, had cystic fibrosis. Since then, the family and their business have worked hard every year to support the cause and bring people together.
At this year’s BBQ, over $10,500 was raised — a big success for the organizers. Hundreds of people joined the event and enjoyed a delicious meal, including around 600 hamburgers from McIntosh Farms, 150 hot dogs, 30 dozen donuts from Anna Mae’s, and a few hundred Dilly Bars from Dairy Queen.
It wasn’t just about food — it was about love, care, and helping those who live with cystic fibrosis. The Van Allen family’s efforts have brought real change and continue to inspire the town of Listowel each year.
