Winnipeg police have arrested eight people and seized drugs, firearms and cash following a drug trafficking investigation in the King Edward neighbourhood of the Manitoba capital. Officers say the probe began in December 2025 after receiving information that drug-related activity and weapons were linked to a residence near Rutland Street and Ness Avenue.
On Jan. 14, 2026, officers executed a search warrant at the home, where they recovered a loaded .22-calibre rifle, a .40-calibre Smith & Wesson handgun, ammunition, crack and cocaine, Percocet pills, scales, packaging materials, about $10,000 in cash, and 11 cellphones believed connected to the investigation.
Police say those taken into custody include a 14-year-old boy, an 18-year-old and a 22-year-old from Winnipeg, all facing a range of firearms, weapon, drug trafficking and proceeds of crime charges. A 27-year-old Winnipeg woman also faces drug trafficking and proceeds of crime charges, while a 17-year-old boy is charged with firearms, weapons, identity fraud and breaches of release orders.
Three additional suspects from Calgary — aged 18, 23 and 25 — are similarly charged with firearms and drug-related offences and remain in custody.
Winnipeg Police Service said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to target organized drug distribution and illegal weapons in the city, with the seizure of significant quantities of controlled substances and cash as key evidence in the case.
