A routine appliance delivery in central Alberta spiraled into a violent confrontation after a disagreement over a delivery address, leaving a delivery driver shaken and a local man facing serious criminal charges.
The incident took place on December 4 at a rural property near Sundre. The delivery driver, who was transporting a refrigerator, a washing machine, and a dryer, initially arrived at the wrong location. After realizing the mistake, he parked safely along the roadside and contacted the customer to confirm the correct address.
Shortly afterward, the customer arrived and provided a different address. The driver explained that delivery locations cannot be changed immediately and must go through proper company procedures. This explanation reportedly angered the customer, causing the situation to escalate rapidly.
According to police, the customer opened the delivery truck’s door and struck the driver several times. The confrontation intensified when the suspect returned to his vehicle, retrieved a long firearm, and allegedly threatened to kill the driver if the appliances were not delivered to the newly stated address.
Fearing for his safety, the delivery driver managed to escape the scene in his truck. Authorities later confirmed that he did not suffer serious injuries.
Police arrested a 31-year-old man from Sundre at his home later that day. During a search of the property, officers seized 16 firearms and a large quantity of ammunition.
The suspect is now facing 14 charges, including assault, making threats, and extortion involving a firearm. The case remains under investigation as police stress the seriousness of using weapons to intimidate or coerce others, especially during everyday service interactions.
