Victory Team has triumphantly claimed the XCAT World Championship title following their victory in the main race at the Dubai Grand Prix on Friday. The dynamic duo, Salem Al Adidi and Issa Al Ali, skillfully guided their boat “Victory 7” to a first-place finish, officially confirming the team's championship status for the 2025 season ahead of the final race on Sunday. The event unfolded at Al Nessnass Beach in Jumeirah, where the team conducted a commanding performance throughout.
Al Adidi and Al Ali started the race with impressive control, gradually distancing themselves from their opponents. They clinched the first main heat, thereby securing the world title early on. Victory Team amassed 35 points in this race, bringing their total points to 165—enough to create a substantial 39-point margin over their nearest challengers from Britain, who finished fifth in the race with only 126 points.
This monumental success marks the seventh world title for Victory Team in the XCAT category, augmenting their past victories from 2012 to 2017. In total, the team holds 27 world titles across various marine racing classes, underscoring their rich legacy of excellence in international powerboat racing.
The winners received their accolades from Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE Marine Sports Federation, during an awards ceremony attended by prominent sports officials from Dubai and other emirates. This event highlighted the significance of marine sports in the UAE and the unwavering support extended to national teams competing on a global scale.
Reflecting on their achievement, the team members expressed immense pride in reclaiming the title after several years. Team officials attributed the victory to effective teamwork, meticulous planning, and focused preparation. Salem Al Adidi emphasized that maintaining composure and waiting for the optimal moment to surge ahead was crucial, while Issa Al Ali extended gratitude to all supporters throughout the season, noting that enhanced coordination and experience were pivotal to their success.
