The Special Olympics UAE delegation has proudly clinched the silver medal at the inaugural World Sailing Inclusion Championships, which took place in Oman from December 3 to 8, 2025. Representing 23 countries, the UAE brought the largest team from the MENA region to compete in the category for individuals with intellectual impairments. This remarkable feat underscores the UAE’s commitment to promoting inclusive sports and expanding opportunities for People of Determination at the global level.
UAE athlete Marwan Salloum showcased exceptional skill in the ILCA category, triumphing in his final race, thereby securing a commendable second place worldwide. This victory further cements the UAE's status in the realm of marine sports, showcasing the capabilities of athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Additionally, Omar Al Hammadi finished respectably in fifth place in the ILCA category, while Mohammed Al Zubaidi and his Unified partner Mohammed Al Owais achieved 24th in the RS Venture Mixed category, competing against seasoned Paralympic sailors and excelling in their classification for athletes with intellectual impairments.
The UAE delegation's performance illustrated remarkable skill, collaboration, and perseverance, reinforcing the nation's role as a pioneer in advocating for sports inclusion.
