The inaugural meeting of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Committee took place in Abu Dhabi, co-led by Saeed Al Hajeri, UAE Minister of State, and Yalchin Rafiyev, Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister. This significant gathering marks a new chapter in UAE-Azerbaijan relations, fostering structured and enduring cooperation.

Established to promote collaboration systematically, the Committee aims to generate sustainable progress in key areas. It was agreed that this platform will oversee and facilitate joint initiatives, thereby ensuring strategic objectives are met while enhancing cooperation across various sectors.

Participants revisited crucial achievements since 2025 that solidified the UAE-Azerbaijan alliance. Among these are the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the announcement of a Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation Partnership. High-profile visits, including President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's trip to Azerbaijan in September 2025 and President Ilham Aliyev's visit to the UAE in July 2025, further reinforced the relationship.

Agreements were made to establish subcommittees targeting five principal areas: political and diplomatic relations, economic collaboration, defense and law enforcement, humanitarian efforts (including education, culture, and advanced technology), and energy and sustainability initiatives. These groups will develop specific projects and monitor progress to ensure successful implementation over the coming years.

The committee also addressed a five-year strategic cooperation roadmap, exploring collaborative projects across various fields, such as economic growth, defense collaboration, cultural and educational exchanges, and sustainable energy advancements. This roadmap aims to systematically guide the execution of these initiatives.

Minister Saeed Al Hajeri highlighted that the committee epitomizes the strengthening ties between the UAE and Azerbaijan, reflecting both nations' commitment to shared objectives and enhanced cooperation. The committee serves as a platform to synchronize efforts, ensuring long-lasting benefits for both countries.

Concluding the meeting, it was agreed that the subsequent committee session would be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, exemplifying both nations' dedication to continuous dialogue and partnership. The UAE's delegation encompassed officials from various ministries, including Defense, Economy, and Education, alongside representatives from notable entities like AD Ports and Masdar.

This inaugural gathering of the UAE-Azerbaijan Strategic Partnership Committee signifies a pivotal step in their bilateral relations. With focused subcommittees, a five-year roadmap, and collaborative projects, both nations aspire to amplify their cooperation across economic, defense, energy, cultural, and humanitarian dimensions, underscoring their commitment to long-term strategic growth.
