Andrew Tate Responds to Wiz Khalifa's Nine-Month Sentence in Romania

Post by : Mara Collins

Controversial figure Andrew Tate weighed in following the nine-month jail sentence handed down to rapper Wiz Khalifa by Romanian authorities for drug possession. On X, Tate quipped, "Romanians now trying to throw Wiz Khalifa in jail. Come see me @wizkhalifa I know how to get better blankets and pillows."

Wiz Khalifa, born Cameron Jibril Thomaz, was detained in July 2024 after smoking on stage during his performance at the Beach Please! Festival in Costinești, Romania. This incident occurred while he was performing Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg's 'The Next Episode'. Romanian drug laws are notoriously strict, leading to his conviction for "unlawful possession of dangerous drugs for personal use." On social media, Khalifa expressed his regret, stating he did not mean to offend Romania and promised to refrain from smoking on stage in the future.

Previously, he had been fined approximately $830 for the same incident in April 2025, but this was appealed by prosecutors. The Constanța Court of Appeal subsequently reversed the fine, imposing a nine-month prison sentence instead, asserting that his actions might inspire drug usage among his younger fans. Khalifa's team is contesting the ruling, leaving the possibility of serving time unclear, especially as he is a US citizen currently residing outside Romania.

Andrew Tate, a former kickboxer and online influencer, currently faces serious allegations including rape and human trafficking, alongside accusations of forming a criminal organization to exploit women. Together with his brother Tristan Tate and two Romanian women, he allegedly recruited women under false pretenses to produce explicit content. The duo maintain they are innocent, claiming the case is an attempt to seize their wealth.

Additionally, Tate faces 21 criminal charges in the UK regarding rape and assault. With a reputation for his misogynistic views and promotion of hyper-masculinity, he has been banned from various social media platforms. His polarizing online persona raises concerns about the impact of toxic masculinity on younger audiences.
