Freeman's composed two free throws extended the Syracuse lead. Rivera-Torres made one to narrow it to 76-73, but Bryce Zephir missed two crucial free throws, granting Monmouth a last chance. Rivera-Torres's final attempt from beyond the arc missed the mark, granting Syracuse a hard-fought victory.
From the get-go, the competition was fierce, with Monmouth even seizing a 22-18 lead midway through the first half before Syracuse retaliated with a dynamic 16-4 run to take the lead into halftime.
