Wiles Stirs Controversy with Comments on Musk, Vance, and Epstein Files

Post by : Bianca Hayes

Susie Wiles, Chief of Staff to the White House, has ignited a political whirlwind with her unabashed comments about prominent figures linked to President Donald Trump, shared in recent Vanity Fair discussions.

During the interview, Wiles labeled Tesla's CEO Elon Musk an “avowed” user of ketamine, despite admitting her lack of direct evidence regarding his drug use. She reflected on Musk’s unpredictable leadership style when he oversaw the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency, which aimed to downsize the federal workforce significantly.

Wiles described Musk as a “complete solo actor,” emphasizing that his rapid-fire decision-making resulted in sudden program cancellations, even those under the US Agency for International Development (USAID). She recalled feeling “aghast” and confronting Musk over the abrupt halts to initiatives that President Trump desired to uphold.

Musk has refuted allegations of ongoing ketamine use, stating he only experimented with the drug years ago under medical advice. Responses from Musk or Tesla representatives were not immediate following Wiles’ comments.

Critical Views on Administration Figures

Beyond Musk, Wiles criticized other high-ranking officials, calling Vice President JD Vance a “conspiracy theorist” and branding budget director Russ Vought a “right-wing absolute zealot.”

When reflecting on Vance’s political transformation from Trump critic to ally, Wiles suggested this shift was politically motivated, coinciding with his Senate campaign. Vance has previously articulated his support for Trump, asserting he believed the president was “the right person to save the country.”

Controversy Over Epstein Files

Wiles openly criticized Attorney General Pam Bondi for her handling of documents regarding the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. She expressed disappointment over the initial release of binders labeled “The Epstein Files: Phase 1,” asserting they didn’t include any novel information.

Wiles dismissed suggestions of an existing client list related to Epstein, insisting, “There is no client list, and it sure as hell wasn’t on her desk.” Although President Trump’s name is mentioned in the Epstein files, she clarified it carries no implication of wrongdoing.

Response from the White House

The White House acted quickly to manage the aftermath. Wiles claimed her statements were misrepresented on social media, labeling the article a “disingenuously framed hit piece.” Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt supported Wiles, calling her one of President Trump’s most loyal and trusted advisers.

Political and Market Reactions

Wiles also discussed internal disputes regarding Trump’s reciprocal tariff policy, which had triggered market fluctuations earlier this year. She acknowledged significant divisions within the administration and characterized the policy implementation as “more painful than expected.”

Recent polling shows President Trump’s approval ratings have faltered, with voters increasingly worried about economic conditions and policy inconsistency.
