Under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the winners of the 28th edition of the Sharjah Holy Quran and Sunnah Award were honored in a special ceremony attended by Sheikh Dr Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Ruler’s Office. This event, held at Al Qasimia University Theatre, brought together scholars, officials, families of participants, and supporters of the award.
The ceremony commenced with the national anthem of the UAE, followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran. Sultan Matar bin Dalmouk, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Noble Quran and Sunnah Establishment, welcomed attendees and expressed gratitude to Sheikh Dr Salem for his presence and support of the award.
Bin Dalmouk highlighted the strong collaboration among families, educational institutions, and mentors, appreciating their roles in the award's ongoing success and in enhancing the standards of participants annually. He noted the award's reputation as a prestigious platform for excellence, promoting authentic Islamic values among the youth. This year, the award incorporated diverse branches that emphasize the mastery of the Holy Quran alongside adherence to Prophet Muhammad's teachings.
He elaborated that the current edition attracted significant participation, with 1,103 contestants and 482 advancing to the finals, resulting in 131 winners across various categories, plus 12 additional winners from related events. The new category introduced this year focused on Quranic readings, featuring recitations of Asim along with the complete Al-Jazariyyah text for male and female participants.
The audience viewed a visual presentation showcasing the Establishment’s achievements and its pivotal role in nurturing young generations through structured educational efforts aimed at memorization, comprehension, and proper recitation. Winners also delivered engaging recitations during the ceremony, which were met with warm applause.
Dr Salem Mohammed Al Duwabi, Head of the Judging Committee for the Prophetic Sunnah category, praised the longstanding dedication of the Establishment in organizing the award and honoring its achievers. He emphasized the competition’s vital role in inspiring participants to memorize the Holy Quran and Prophetic Hadiths, fostering a generation exemplifying knowledge, ethics, and values. He thanked parents and guardians for their unwavering support, highlighting their crucial role in these accomplishments.
Sheikh Dr Salem then honored the male and female winners by presenting them with shields and certificates of appreciation. Prizes were awarded in different categories of the Holy Quran competition, including full memorization categories and other divisions for citizens and residents. Specialrecognitions were also given to senior citizens and the "mother memoriser" category.
In addition to the Holy Quran awards, winners in the Prophetic Sunnah competition were acknowledged, covering various branches including Khulasat al-Kalam on Hadith, Al-Muntaqa al-Jami’ from Bulugh al-Maram, and others. The event also celebrated outstanding study circles and centers across Sharjah, as well as the top circles in the Eastern and Central regions. Members of the judging committees were also recognized for their contributions.
As the ceremony concluded, Sheikh Dr Salem presented commemorative shields to sponsors and supporters of the Establishment, appreciating their consistent support. Furthermore, he received a commemorative gift from the Establishment in recognition of his personal involvement and commitment to honoring the winners in this remarkable edition.
This ceremony epitomized Sharjah’s dedication to promoting the Holy Quran and Prophetic Sunnah while inspiring future generations to uphold Islamic values through dedication and academic excellence.
