The Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH) is gearing up for the 57th Cairo International Book Fair, slated for January 21 to February 3, 2026, at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre in New Cairo. This prominent event attracts robust participation from various government entities as well as regional and global publishers.
Dr Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, emphasized the Institute's dedication to a longstanding and impactful presence at the Cairo International Book Fair, recognized as one of the largest cultural gatherings in the Middle East, welcoming approximately two million visitors annually.
He noted that SIH's involvement is a testament to its mission to safeguard both tangible and intangible cultural heritage, bridging heritage with contemporary life and promoting it through scholarly work, publications, and cultural ventures. The Institute consistently organizes and participates in heritage exhibitions, festivals, and events at local and international levels.
Dr Al Musallam further pointed out that SIH has significantly enriched the heritage landscape by supporting researchers, fostering heritage studies, and enhancing Emirati and Arab libraries with specialized literature, including books, journals, and periodicals.
He underscored the Government of Sharjah's strong emphasis on books, knowledge industries, and nurturing a reading culture, in alignment with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
At the fair, SIH's pavilion will display over 1,000 publications encompassing various dimensions of cultural heritage, aimed at raising awareness and safeguarding heritage knowledge.
Additionally, the Institute will run a cultural programme featuring panel discussions on:
The shared cultural heritage between the UAE and Egypt
The role and challenges faced by heritage literature
How Egyptian heritage is represented in SIH's publications
The future of specialized institutional publishing
The programme will also feature heritage reading sessions in collaboration with the Book Club, alongside book-signing events for newly released works.
