During the New Year’s Eve celebrations of 2026, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) successfully moved more than 2.8 million passengers, showcasing an impressive growth of over 13% compared to the previous year's figures.
This significant increase was made possible by a detailed traffic and operational strategy, developed collaboratively with the Dubai Event Security Committee, relevant authorities, and strategic partners. This approach featured effective traffic management, temporary road shutdowns, and improved public transport services throughout the emirate.
According to official statistics, the combined usage of public transport, taxis, e-hailing services, marine transport, and shared mobility platforms reached 2,836,859 passengers, up from 2,502,474 on New Year’s Eve 2025.
Dubai Metro once again led the way as the preferred travel option, accommodating 1,249,636 passengers across the Red and Green Lines. The Dubai Tram welcomed 58,052 passengers, while public buses and bus-on-demand services recorded a total of 503,264 users.
Taxi services played a crucial role, transporting 661,538 passengers during peak hours of celebration. Marine transport saw 76,745 passengers, with e-hailing platforms logging 286,135 trips. Furthermore, shared mobility services had a total of 1,489 users.
RTA emphasized that the effective implementation of its operational plan assured Safety and smooth movement for both residents and visitors heading to celebration venues. The authority noted that these outcomes further enhance Dubai's international standing as a city adept at managing large-scale events with robust safety and efficiency measures.
