Pakistani-American Student Nabbed for University Shooting Plot

Luqmaan Khan, a 25-year-old American citizen of Pakistani descent, has been arrested in connection to a planned mass shooting at the University of Delaware. According to the US Department of Justice (DoJ), authorities found a troubling assortment of firearms, ammunition, body armor, and a comprehensive manifesto detailing his intentions to “kill all” and attain “martyrdom.”

Khan, who has resided in the US since childhood, was taken into police custody on November 24 after being discovered parked in a public park after hours. A subsequent search of his vehicle revealed a .357 caliber Glock handgun with 27 rounds, altered with a microplastic conversion kit to function as a semi-automatic firearm. Additional findings included three loaded magazines, a Glock 9mm magazine, a ballistic vest, and a notebook filled with specific attack plans.

The notebook contained detailed strategies for carrying out an assault, methods for evading law enforcement, and even referenced a member of the University of Delaware Police Department by name, alongside a layout marking entry and exit points labeled “UD Police Station.” Reportedly, it made repeated mentions of “kill all” and “martyrdom,” prompting authorities to label the documents as “premeditated assault plans” accompanied by distinct “warfare techniques.”

While the precise motivation for Khan’s alleged actions is still unknown, he reportedly expressed to police that martyrdom was “one of the greatest things you can do.” After his arrest, the FBI executed a raid at Khan’s Wilmington home, uncovering an AR-style rifle equipped with a red-dot scope, another Glock pistol converted to a fully automatic weapon capable of firing 1,200 rounds per minute, eleven extended magazines, hollow-point bullets, and another bulletproof vest. Remarkably, none of the firearms were registered.

On November 26, Khan faced formal charges of illegal possession of a machine gun and remains in federal custody while investigations proceed. Officials have emphasized the critical nature of this case, underscoring both the magnitude of the weaponry seized and the thorough planning exhibited in the purported attack.

This incident has ignited significant concerns regarding campus security and the heightened risk of armed violence in the United States, reinforcing the need for vigilant law enforcement and assessment of possible threats.
