Smriti Mandhana Reclaims ICC Women's ODI Rankings Lead

India’s Smriti Mandhana has once again ascended to the top of the ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings, overtaking South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt. Mandhana has maintained her rating at 811 points this week despite the competitive pressure. In contrast, Wolvaardt dropped from 814 to 806 points after scoring only 31 runs in her last match against Ireland.

South Africa commenced their series against Ireland strongly, clinching the first match by seven wickets in East London. Key contributions came from Sune Luus and Miane Smit, who each scored half-centuries, helping the team chase down a target of 210 runs in just 37 overs. Following this performance, Luus moved up five spots to joint 31st in the ODI batter rankings and improved ten positions to 33rd in the all-rounders’ list.

Ireland also made strides in the rankings. Orla Prendergast advanced one place to 10th among all-rounders, while Laura Delany climbed three spots to 16th. Prendergast also progressed two positions to 34th among ODI bowlers after taking 1/34 in the match. Teammates Arlene Kelly, Cara Murray, and Laura Delany also improved in the bowling rankings.

South African bowler Tumi Sekhukhune took two wickets in the opening match against Ireland, rising seven places to 78th in the ODI bowling rankings. The latest rankings reflect a fierce competition among women cricketers from India, South Africa, and Ireland, showcasing their exceptional performances on the pitch.
