South Africa Arrests Kenyans Over Illegal Work at US Refugee Center

Post by : Mina Carter

South African authorities have arrested seven Kenyan nationals for working illegally at a center handling refugee applications for white South Africans seeking asylum in the United States.

The individuals were reportedly in South Africa on tourist visas and had ignored prior visa denials, taking up employment in violation of the country’s immigration rules. The government plans to deport them and ban their entry for the next five years.

South Africa said the raid reflects its commitment to fighting illegal immigration and visa violations. Diplomatic discussions have begun with both the United States and Kenya regarding the incident.

The processing of refugee applications is managed by two organizations: RSC Africa, a Kenyan-based support center, and Amerikaners, a South African platform providing information for Afrikaners interested in resettling in the US.

While the US has reduced its global refugee intake from 125,000 to 7,500, it continues to prioritize applications from the white Afrikaner community, citing claims of persecution — a claim strongly rejected by South Africa.

The arrests come amid ongoing tensions between South Africa and the Trump administration over refugee resettlement policies and land reform debates in the country.
