Kasim Khan, son of the former Prime Minister of Pakistan and cricket icon Imran Khan, has publicly voiced his deep concerns regarding his father's imprisonment, gaining significant media attention. Through recent social media communications, Kasim has alleged that neither he nor his family has been able to see Imran Khan for over a month and has urged international human rights organizations to take action. He has made it clear that any consequences stemming from his father's isolation will rest with the Pakistani government.
Born in 1999 to Imran Khan and his ex-wife, British journalist Jemima Goldsmith, Kasim is the younger sibling of Sulaiman Isa Khan. Following his parents' separation, he spent much of his youth in London, although he initially lived in Pakistan. Completed his studies in anthropology and innovation at the University of Bristol in 2023, he subsequently founded Mifu, a platform aimed at connecting influencers with brands for content monetization. Though he largely abstains from politics, he actively advocates for his father's welfare.
In a disturbing recent update, Kasim revealed that his father has been subjected to solitary confinement for six weeks, characterizing it as a 'death cell.' He expressed frustration that his sisters were also denied visitation despite court orders, and stated that he and Sulaiman have had no communication with their father. He emphasized that the Pakistani authorities would be held accountable for both Imran Khan's safety and any fallout from the ongoing isolation. In contrast, authorities have dismissed claims regarding any deterioration in Imran Khan's health, asserting that he remains in stable condition.
The family background of Imran Khan is notable, as he is the son of Ikramullah Khan Niazi, a notable civil engineer who was pivotal during the Pakistan movement, and Shaukat Khanum, a homemaker. Imran has four sisters: Rubina Khanum, Aleema Khanum, Uzma Khanum, and Rani Khanum. His marital history includes three marriages: the first to Jemima Goldsmith in 1995, which produced Sulaiman and Kasim, followed by a short-lived union with journalist Reham Khan in 2015, and later, in 2018, to Bushra Bibi, whom he regards as a spiritual advisor.
Kasim Khan's remarks have surfaced amid increasing public unease regarding the former prime minister's detention, which has ignited protests and widespread discussions concerning human rights and legal frameworks in Pakistan. His call for global attention underscores the intense scrutiny around Imran Khan's imprisonment and the troubling conditions faced by his family, which Kasim has described as 'inhumane' within the prison environment.
