During the Dubai Airshow 2025, the Indra Group and UAE's EDGE Group took a major step in unveiling their collaboration through a new joint venture in Spain. This partnership will focus on the development, production, and maintenance of smart weapons and loitering munitions tailored for Spain, Europe, and selected international markets, opening doors for broader defense cooperation.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked by Ángel Escribano, Executive President of Indra, along with José Vicente de Los Mozos, CEO of Indra, and Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director & CEO of EDGE. This strategic initiative aims to enhance both companies’ capabilities, building on Indra's industrial presence in Spain and EDGE's expertise in rapid weapons technology.

The joint venture is set to merge European engineering standards with agile production capabilities, offering cutting-edge solutions for striking hard-to-reach targets efficiently, while safeguarding high-value platforms. The anticipated innovation is aligned with the growing demand for defense capabilities in regions prioritizing their sovereignty in armaments.

This collaboration derives from the framework established by PULSE NOVA, a previous joint venture focused on radar systems initiated by Indra and EDGE in 2024. Now, the scope expands to include high-performance, export-ready smart weapons and loitering munitions, reflecting a dual ambition to reinforce their footholds in Europe while pursuing global prospects.

Headquartered in Spain, this venture is poised to become a crucial component of Europe’s defense landscape, merging industrial prowess, innovative technology, and swift deployment capabilities. Analysts emphasize that such alliances are increasingly essential in contemporary defense strategies, melding strategic autonomy with a competitive market presence.
