In a tragic event this Thursday, a mob in Bangladesh took the life of a Hindu man accused of blasphemy. The incident occurred in the Bhaluka region of the Mymensingh district, as reported by local law enforcement.
The deceased, identified as Dipu Chandra Das, was a garment worker residing in the Dubalia Para area. Reports indicate that he was violently assaulted around 9 pm by a group claiming he made derogatory comments about Prophet Muhammad. Witnesses questioned by the authorities could not precisely clarify the timing or nature of the alleged comments.
According to police statements, the mob brutally attacked Das, ultimately tying his body to a tree and setting it ablaze. The violence occurred along the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, leading to major traffic disruptions as curious onlookers gathered.
A video purportedly capturing the events surfaced on social media, showing bystanders recording the chaos on their phones. However, authorities have yet to verify the video's authenticity. Police hurried to the scene after receiving reports of the crime and worked to manage the tumultuous situation.
The coroner's office was tasked with examining the body, which has since been sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. As of now, no formal charges have been filed, and police are in the process of contacting the victim’s relatives. Legal proceedings are expected to follow once the case is officially opened.
