Fushan Technology, a subsidiary of Foxconn based in Vietnam, is actively pursuing the necessary permissions for an extensive expansion aimed at solidifying its presence in the global electronics sector. A recent report to Bac Ninh province's environmental authority highlights comprehensive upgrades currently in progress at the facility located in northern Vietnam.
This expansion strategy will enable the factory to start manufacturing Xbox gaming consoles alongside other electronic components, thereby enhancing Foxconn’s supply lines for renowned tech brands globally. The company also plans to elevate its smartphone production by an additional 30 million units, boosting its total capacity to around 140 million units annually.
An outline of the plans also includes manufacturing charging devices tailored for smart rings—wearable tech that incorporates features akin to smartwatches with fitness monitoring capabilities. Upgrading work is already underway, with full-scale operations anticipated to kick off by April next year.
Historically, Fushan Technology's facility has served as a production hub for both Nokia and Microsoft mobile products. Furthermore, the site has the capacity to produce as many as 100,000 drones each year, highlighting its versatility across multiple high-demand technology markets.
Foxconn is a key supplier for major players like Apple and Microsoft, having invested over $3.2 billion in Vietnam as of 2024. The company has gradually expanded its operations throughout the country since entering the market in the early 2000s, with a focus on Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces.
