Field Marshal Asim Munir Awarded Saudi Arabia’s Prestigious Medal

During an official visit to Saudi Arabia in December 2025, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces, was honored with the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellence, the nation’s highest civilian accolade.

The award was conferred under a Royal Decree by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, highlighting its significance as the top national award in Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi leadership commended Field Marshal Munir for his strategical foresight and commendable efforts to enhance the historic friendship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

In his remarks, Field Marshal Munir expressed gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Saudi leadership, stating that the honor symbolizes the enduring bonds shared by the two nations.

Munir’s visit underscored Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the security and prosperity of Saudi Arabia. He engaged in discussions with Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Defence.

Their discussions covered various mutual interests including regional security, military cooperation, and defense strategies, emphasizing the shared goals for peace and stability in the region.

This award not only acknowledges Field Marshal Asim Munir’s exceptional leadership but also reinforces the historic and trusting relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
