The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has announced that Mohammed Ben Sulayem has been re-elected for another four-year term as President. This decision was reached during the General Assembly held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where his Presidential List received unanimous approval, allowing him to further steer the global motorsport and mobility governing body. His return comes on the heels of a significant period of renewal and stability since he first took the helm in 2021.
Throughout his initial term, Mohammed Ben Sulayem spearheaded key reforms designed to enhance governance, fortify internal frameworks, and restore the FIA’s financial standing. During his leadership, the federation transformed from a €-24m deficit in 2021 to a remarkable operating profit of €4.7m in 2024, marking its most robust financial results in nearly a decade. The FIA projects an operating result of €4.4m for 2025, indicating ongoing growth and stability.
This renewed financial strength has empowered the FIA to boost long-term investments in Member Clubs and global development initiatives. Over the recent four years, the organization has embraced enhanced audit protocols, improved budget management, and reformed governance structures. These measures have elevated transparency, accountability, and professionalism within the federation, fostering more effective and seamless operations.
Beyond financial and administrative advancements, the FIA has amplified its global presence in motorsport and mobility. The organization has expanded its regional development efforts, intensified support for grassroots motorsport, and collaborated closely with international stakeholders on safety, sustainable mobility, and transport innovation. A new commercial sector was also established to bolster long-term growth and global outreach.
Following his re-election, Mohammed Ben Sulayem expressed gratitude to all FIA Members for their trust and active participation in the voting process.
