On December 7, 2025, Dubai is set to make history as it hosts the very first World Triathlon Women’s Cup, a significant event in the world of sports. Taking place at the stunning Dubai Islands, this international competition is brought to life by the collaboration between the Dubai Sports Council and the UAE Triathlon Federation, under the watchful eye of World Triathlon.
The much-anticipated event serves as a significant milestone for women's athletics in the UAE, activating the "Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Campaign". This initiative is dedicated to amplifying female participation in competitive sports and expanding opportunities for their advancement. This event aligns with Dubai's vision to cultivate a sports scene that is robust, inclusive, and inspirational.
Furthermore, the World Triathlon Women’s Cup is integral to the Dubai Sports Sector Strategic Plan 2033, aimed at positioning the emirate as a front-runner in global sports. The plan consists of four foundational pillars: bolstering sports clubs, nurturing new talent, fostering community engagement, and elevating Dubai's international standing in sports.
The strategic plan encompasses 19 programs and 75 initiatives, expected to add approximately AED 18.3 billion to Dubai’s economy by 2033. Hosting such distinguished international events like this triathlon is vital for achieving these ambitions.
DP World has been named the official partner for this groundbreaking competition, demonstrating its commitment to supporting women's progress in sports. Dubai Holding will act as the event host, while Dubai Sports Channel guarantees comprehensive global broadcasting.
Abdulla Bin Damithan, CEO and Managing Director of DP World GCC, expressed pride in their support for this landmark event, emphasizing how sports can foster confidence, promote health, and create avenues for women. He extended a warm welcome to participants from all over the globe, stating that Dubai Islands will serve as an inspirational backdrop for the triathlon.
The organization team is actively preparing, holding regular coordination meetings with World Triathlon, the UAE Triathlon Federation, Dubai Sports Channel, Dubai Police, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), and Dubai Holding. They aim to create a safe, well-structured atmosphere for all athletes involved.
The competition will incorporate all three triathlon disciplines: swimming, cycling, and running. It features five categories, catering to both seasoned professionals and those new to the sport.
The elite category targets professional athletes, while the sprint category invites amateurs to take part in a course that includes 750 meters of swimming, 20 kilometers of cycling, and 5 kilometers of running. For newcomers and age-group participants, there’s a super-sprint category with 400 meters of swimming, 10 kilometers of cycling, and 2.5 kilometers of running.
These categories allow competitors of varying skill levels to showcase their talents and experience international sporting standards.
This event is recognized as a significant advancement in the development of women’s sports within the region, reinforcing Dubai’s commitment to empowering women, broadening sports participation, and creating an inclusive environment.
