The newly launched Dubai Film Committee, operating under the Dubai Media Council, has officially convened for its inaugural meeting to outline its mission, operational framework, and strategic goals focused on bolstering Dubai's filmmaking industry.

Taking place at the Council headquarters, the meeting aimed to create a dynamic film ecosystem by harnessing Dubai's unique advantages while catering to the real needs of the industry in areas like production, talent cultivation, and collaboration.

Her Excellency Nehal Badri, Secretary General of the Dubai Media Council, emphasized that the committee will be pivotal in fulfilling the leadership's vision for Dubai's creative economy. She highlighted that the Council's holistic strategy seeks to amplify the media sector’s role in the knowledge economy, putting a strong emphasis on creativity and innovation.

Badri described the film sector as a key component of Dubai's media landscape, offering substantial growth prospects. She asserted that the committee's efforts would further position Dubai as a global hub for filmmaking and creative talent.

She underlined the necessity of synchronizing policies, infrastructure, and industry demands through a collaborative, industry-wide approach. Film, she stated, is central to Dubai’s media environment, contributing to economic diversity, skill development, and international cooperation while shaping the emirate's image in the global creative landscape.

She also pointed out Dubai's competitive edge as a production center, backed by cutting-edge digital infrastructure, adaptive regulations, efficient logistics, and a prime geographic location that links regional and global markets. These elements create a solid basis for scaling film production and ensuring long-term growth in the sector.

His Excellency Issam Kazim, Chairman of the Dubai Film Committee, remarked that the committee is devoted to translating its strategies into real results. Initial goals involve establishing clear guidelines, fortifying local talent pathways, and improving cooperation between public and private entities.

He indicated that the committee will focus on tailored training initiatives, streamlining filming processes, and enhancing partnerships with local and international production companies. Collaboration with governmental bodies and prominent filmmakers, whether individuals or organizations, will also be crucial. These initiatives, he noted, will foster a creative, technology-enhanced economy.

The committee was formed pursuant to Dubai Media Council Resolution No. (8) of 2025, endorsed by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, in November 2025. Its responsibilities cover providing specialized services and facilities for the film industry, liaising with key stakeholders, promoting targeted training programs, and creating pathways for emerging talents.

During the meeting, Hesham Al Olama, Vice Chairman of the committee, remarked that the diverse expertise of its members is vital for achieving the sector's strategic aspirations. He acknowledged that strong cooperation among the represented organizations will help cultivate a flourishing ecosystem, enhance Dubai's status as a top choice for global filmmakers, and draw further investments into this sector.

The meeting also included representatives from various Dubai government entities, such as the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Dubai Municipality, Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Customs, Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Dubai Police, the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs, and Emirates Airline, symbolizing a cohesive governmental strategy to advance the film industry in Dubai.
