This new initiative enables businesses to establish rapid high-speed private links between the two platforms in a matter of minutes, significantly reducing the time previously required for such connections.
The announcement comes on the heels of an AWS outage that affected thousands of websites on October 20, temporarily incapacitating popular applications like Snapchat and Reddit. Analysts project that this issue led to losses between $500 million and $650 million for U.S. companies.
This new service integrates AWS’ Interconnect with Google Cloud’s Cross-Cloud Interconnect, facilitating seamless data transfer across clouds while minimizing risks of downtime. Early testing of the service is already underway with customers like Salesforce, aiming to enhance application performance and maintain continuous connectivity.
As cloud computing continues to rise in importance alongside AI applications, technology leaders are investing considerably in scaling their respective infrastructures. AWS still holds the title of the largest cloud provider, boasting $33 billion in revenue for the third quarter, compared to Google Cloud’s $15.16 billion.
