On Saturday, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese wed his long-term partner, Jodie Haydon, in a historic ceremony at The Lodge in Canberra. This marks the first time an Australian leader has married while in office. The intimate event was held in the residence's tranquil garden, surrounded by close friends and family.

Dressed in a bow tie, Albanese, aged 62, looked sharp, while Haydon donned a beautiful flowing white gown amidst a flurry of celebratory confetti. The prime minister shared a simple yet heartfelt post on social media with the caption, “Married,” along with a video showcasing their joyful procession. The couple stated in a joint announcement, “We are thrilled to share our love and commitment to a future together.”

Having gotten engaged on Valentine’s Day 2024, Albanese spoke on finding a partner he wished to share his life with. They personally penned their vows and were married by a celebrant. Their dog, Toto, also made the occasion special by serving as the ring bearer. Post-ceremony, guests celebrated with Sydney-brewed drinks as the couple walked down the aisle to Stevie Wonder's “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours).”

The newlyweds plan a five-day honeymoon within Australia beginning Monday. Albanese, who has an adult son named Nathan and previously divorced in 2019, met Haydon over five years ago at a business dinner in Melbourne.

This wedding occurs as a happy personal achievement for the prime minister, who recently secured a three-year term in a landslide electoral victory. It has garnered national attention, drawing an enthusiastic public response across Australia and beyond.

As this historic event trends in Australia, it underscores Albanese's popularity and highlights his personal journey, promising extensive media coverage and social engagement worldwide.
