The artistic education landscape in Sharjah is set for an invigorating transformation as His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has announced new leadership appointments at the University of the Arts Sharjah.
Dr Peter Barlow, a prominent figure in the performing arts sector, will take charge of the Academy of Performing Arts. His wealth of experience in theatre, music, and dance is anticipated to enrich the university’s offerings as he leads the academy in engaging with contemporary global artistic movements.
On the other hand, the Academy of Visual Arts will now be directed by Dr Nadia Mahdi Al Hassni, a notable visual artist with extensive experience in painting and modern art methodologies. Her leadership is expected to cultivate a dynamic environment for students to develop and enhance their artistic talents.
These strategic appointments underscore Sharjah’s dedication to exceptional arts education and the encouragement of creativity in emerging artists. Both academies seek to create an inclusive and stimulating platform where students can thrive in their disciplines while aligning with the UAE’s wider cultural aspirations.
As the University of the Arts Sharjah undergoes this leadership shift, it solidifies its status as a premier institution for arts education in the region, fostering collaboration, innovation, and excellence in both performing and visual arts.
