In a heartfelt revelation, Tamil actor and producer Vishnu Vishal shared his experiences of navigating the Tamil film industry, despite his hit thriller Ratsasan from 2018. While promoting his latest project, Aaryan, he expressed his sorrow over insufficient backing from both producers and colleagues, mentioning it “hurts” him deeply.
Challenges with Producers
Vishnu detailed his difficulties in moving projects forward, stating that multiple films have encountered significant roadblocks due to producers withdrawing at critical moments.
“For Gatta Kusthi, we had six different producers pull out at the last moment. In the case of Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran, four producers changed, and for FIR: Faizal Ibrahim Raiz, three producers stepped back. Nine projects that were assured to me post-Ratsasan collapsed,” he explained.
As a result of these challenges, he took matters into his own hands by stepping into film production.
“I don’t think I deserve this treatment as a person; it truly saddens me. Despite hits like Gatta Kusthi and FIR, I had to wait three long years for another release. That’s when I decided to establish my own production house. Once I took charge, it only took a year to get my next film on screens,” he revealed.
Dealing with Peer Neglect
He also expressed his disappointment regarding the lack of recognition from his fellow actors within the Tamil film community.
“I’ve observed that when my films release successfully, none of the actors I admire reach out to me personally. Instead, they contact my director when the film does well, arranging meetings with them for future collaborations without even a call to me. This disheartens me,” Vishnu shared.
Journey Ahead and Upcoming Work
Vishnu Vishal's acting journey began in 2009 with Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu, and he has since taken on various roles as both an actor and producer under his banner, Vishnu Vishal Studioz.
This year, his production house launched the romantic comedy Oho Enthan Baby, featuring his cousin Rudra in the leading role.
His forthcoming movie, Aaryan, also under his production, is directed by debutant Praveen K and is set to hit theaters on October 31.
