Post by : Mara Collins

Umm Al Emarat Park, in collaboration with the Tadweer Group, proudly established a Guinness World Record for the largest mosaic composed entirely of recycled plastic bottle caps. This remarkable milestone was celebrated on December 18, with officials from both the Park and Tadweer Group present, along with Guinness representatives.

Earlier in December, community members were invited to participate by attaching recycled bottle caps to a specialty wall showcasing universal recycling icons. This effort, part of the “Cap Your Way to Sustainability” initiative, engaged schools, families, and residents of Abu Dhabi to gather caps for the 25-square-metre artwork.

During two active participation sessions from December 8-10, a total of 356 contributors dedicated 18 hours to the endeavor, utilizing 24,846 bottle caps. The Park provided free admission to encourage maximum community involvement, while Tadweer Group managed the design, structure, and collection of the caps.

Abdulwahed Juma, Executive Director of the Tadweer Group, expressed that this project enhances community awareness regarding sustainable waste management and aligns with Abu Dhabi's objective to divert 80% of waste from landfills by 2030. Rasha Kablawi, a spokesperson for the Park, noted that the mosaic exemplifies the community's dedication to environmental stewardship and showcases the impact of collective effort.

This record-setting creation emphasizes the strength of collaboration, creativity, and sustainability, motivating residents to take proactive steps in preserving the environment for generations to come.
