To honor World MS Day 2026, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) has initiated an extensive awareness campaign throughout the UAE, emphasizing its dedication to aiding individuals affected by multiple sclerosis (MS) while enhancing public knowledge about this neurological condition.

Entering its fourth year, this campaign will be implemented across healthcare facilities, workplaces, public areas, and community settings nationwide. The objective is to increase awareness of MS, foster conversations about the condition, and build stronger support networks for those impacted.

This year's theme, “My MS Diagnosis: Navigating MS Together,” resonates with global efforts to underscore the challenges faced after an MS diagnosis. The initiative ensures individuals diagnosed with MS can access trustworthy information, practical resources, and supportive communities to navigate their journeys confidently.

The NMSS plans to elevate awareness through diverse educational initiatives, public engagement, and community activities while clarifying misconceptions related to MS. Additionally, the initiative stresses the importance of early assistance, accessible healthcare information, and inclusive settings to empower those living with MS.

Her Excellency Dr. Fatima Al Kaabi, Vice Chair of the NMSS, emphasized that World MS Day serves as a crucial reminder that nobody should face the challenges of MS in isolation.

“Living with MS is a journey enhanced by the support of families, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and communities. As we celebrate World MS Day for the fourth consecutive year in the UAE, we reaffirm our commitment to boosting awareness, deepening understanding, and fostering a more supportive environment for people battling MS,” she remarked.

Dr. Al Kaabi highlighted that real progress relies on collaborative efforts and shared responsibility. The nationwide campaign unites healthcare partners, community organizations, and the public to enhance access to vital information and practical assistance while paving the way for a more inclusive future for those with MS.

Among the new resources introduced by NMSS is the “Talking About Your MS Diagnosis Guide,” crafted to aid individuals in effectively discussing their diagnosis with family, friends, colleagues, and broader support networks. This guide provides practical advice and strategies to help people articulate their experience with confidence.

Recognizing caregivers' essential role, NMSS has also unveiled an “Empowering Carers Guide,” supplying resources, actionable information, and support for caregivers assisting those living with MS and other chronic conditions.

Furthermore, a dedicated Human Resources Guide will assist employers and HR professionals in nurturing inclusive workplaces. This guide includes actionable recommendations for accessibility, workplace accommodations, and support strategies to help those with MS thrive professionally.

The workplace guide has gained endorsement from The Butterfly, a leading organization focused on accessibility and inclusion. Although primarily designed for those with MS, these resources also support individuals with other chronic health issues.

Beyond educational materials, the campaign includes a considerable outreach program spanning over 30 healthcare facilities in the UAE, enhancing the visibility of MS support services and ensuring easier access to reliable information for patients and their families.

To further enrich its educational efforts, NMSS will host a public webinar on June 5, 2026, connecting experts in nutrition, mental health, and medical research to discuss wellness strategies and the significance of comprehensive support systems for those living with MS.

Community involvement is a cornerstone of this year's initiative. Under the theme “Carry It Forward,” NMSS is organizing café activations across more than 30 locations in the UAE on May 30 and 31, 2026, aimed at igniting conversations about MS and encouraging public engagement to enhance understanding of the experiences faced by those affected.

Additionally, several landmarks throughout the UAE will be illuminated as part of the awareness campaign, increasing visibility and inspiring discussions nationwide about multiple sclerosis.

Through the comprehensive World MS Day campaign, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society aspires to amplify awareness, broaden support systems, and advocate for a more inclusive society for individuals living with MS. The message is clear: those living with multiple sclerosis are not alone, and a supportive community is with them every step of the way.
