A 9th-grade student in Tripura faces detention after alleged assault on a six-year-old neighbor in K
Abdulla Balalaa, the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability, participated in the 5th Istanbul International Water Forum, themed “Strengthening Water Resilience: Innovation to Action.”
The forum convened ministers, high-level officials, and experts globally to tackle pressing water issues, covering segments like technology, finance, agriculture, health, and enhancing cross-sector collaboration for improved water governance.
Balalaa engaged in a prominent ministerial dialogue named “Paradigm Shift in a Changing World: Water and the Bridging Power of Istanbul.” This principal session concentrated on the evaluation and management of water resources while underscoring the significance of collective efforts, dialogue, and inventive solutions to water-related challenges.
In his remarks, Balalaa reiterated the UAE’s dedicated approach to global water cooperation, highlighting water diplomacy's essential role in transforming common challenges into actionable partnerships.
He further announced that the UAE will co-host the 2026 UN Water Conference alongside Senegal, striving to ensure the conference results in effective outcomes while reinforcing partnerships and addressing the diverse needs of various nations.
During the forum, he also held discussions with Turkish officials to bolster collaboration in water resilience, energy, and sustainability.
Additionally, Balalaa took part in a confidential ministerial roundtable on “Dialogue on Water Resilience,” led by İbrahim Yumaklı, Turkey's Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, focusing on national water risks, policy measures, and the essentiality of regional and global partnerships.
He commended Turkey for its role as the host of the forum, asserting that its deliberations will contribute significantly to prominent global forums, notably the 2026 UN Water Conference and COP31 in Antalya.
Concluding his address, Balalaa stated that ensuring water resilience is a primary priority for the UAE and a collective global obligation, expressing optimism about collaborating closely with Turkey, Senegal, and worldwide partners for a stronger and sustainable future.
