UAE Leaders Champion AI Strategy for Future Growth

The United Arab Emirates is making significant strides to solidify its status as a global leader in artificial intelligence. H.H. President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan participated in a pivotal meeting focused on the UAE's national AI strategy and its vision for a cohesive AI framework. The gathering underscored the UAE's dedication to harnessing AI for societal improvement while enhancing the nation’s technology and innovation standing.

The discussion centered around the impact of AI on everyday life and its growing influence on worldwide trends. Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority, initiated the event by presenting the UAE leadership’s aspirations for innovation and AI. He illustrated how AI has started to reshape daily routines and contribute to a more intelligent, efficient society.

A roster of senior officials and ministers was present, including Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of Education; Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications; Mansoor Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi; Dr. Mohamed Al Askar, Director-General of TAMM; and Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of the UAE Cybersecurity Council. Among the attendees were Ahmed Yahia Al Idrissi, CEO of MGX, and Peng Xiao, CEO of G42.

Speakers asserted that AI serves as a revolutionary force with direct implications for healthcare, education, the economy, and public services. The UAE has remained aligned with global AI advancements while prioritizing the betterment of its citizens and communities. They elaborated on how AI can enhance medical outcomes, elevate educational efficiency, and foster sustainable economic development.

The conversation also touched on the significance of cybersecurity in the era of AI, the role of AI networks, knowledge sharing, and investments essential for fostering innovation. Officials explored how AI can boost governmental services and empower communities, stressing the importance of educational initiatives that prepare students with AI competencies and future-ready skills.

Healthcare was a prominent theme, featuring examples that showcase AI's role in improving diagnostics, treatments, and patient care outcomes. Attendees noted tangible improvements, which include enhanced accuracy and increased survival rates, illustrating AI's potential to fortify the nation's healthcare framework.

The UAE's AI initiatives encompass a national AI strategy, the AI Readiness Index for assessing federal entities’ preparedness, and the Large Language Model Alignment Index to ensure that AI tools resonate with Emirati values. These initiatives place UAE culture at the core of AI development and shape the country's long-term technological vision.

During the session, a live demonstration of the TAMM app exhibited how various government services—including vehicle renewals, insurance, and payments—can be streamlined using AI tools for real-time assistance. This demonstration showcased AI’s capability to enhance public service delivery and simplify daily tasks for citizens.

Education was heavily emphasized in the dialogue as well, with officials advocating for the responsible deployment of AI to boost learning outcomes, reinforce national identity, and educate students about Emirati culture, all while preparing them for future technological advancements.

The session, held at Qasr Al Bahr, featured attendance from notable leaders, including H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister; H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan; and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, alongside ministers, sheikhs, and senior officials.
