Justin Baldoni Faces Blake Lively in Upcoming March Court Trial

Justin Baldoni finds himself embroiled in a legal struggle with Blake Lively as their courtroom showdown looms. Recently disclosed group chat messages reveal how Rainn Wilson extended his backing to Baldoni during the tense filming of It Ends With Us. Dated January 5, 2024, these exchanges featured Baldoni alongside Travis Van Winkle, Andy Grammer, and producer Jamey Heath.

The dialogue kicked off with Wilson asking, “Any update, Brothers?” Baldoni recounted a troubling evening, especially a conversation with Ryan Reynolds that left him shaken. He described how Reynolds confronted him in a condescending manner, questioning his character, intentions, and a podcast he co-hosts with Jamie Heath, insinuating it misrepresents their work.

Baldoni mentioned that terms like “creepy” and “abuse” were thrown around concerning his behavior. He was given specific lines to convey in an apology—something he found difficult at the moment because, as he expressed, “my brain was trying to comprehend what was happening.” He said, “I feel this was so unjust and yet the only path forward was to acknowledge her and Ryan’s feelings and apologise and face the wrath of an angry husband.”

Wilson reacted strongly in support of Baldoni, stating, “Oh my God. I can’t believe it. You were set up and ambushed and personally attacked. I’m stunned.” He drew a parallel to Baldoni being “a deer in the headlights” while suggesting that it might be best for Baldoni not to rush into an apology. Wilson urged him to forge ahead, saying, “Onwards, brother. Make a great and important and entertaining piece of storytelling. That’s all you can do now.”

The legal contention began when Lively lodged a complaint with California's Civil Rights Department on December 20, 2024, alleging sexual harassment and a hostile work environment during the It Ends With Us shoot. In turn, Baldoni filed a defamation lawsuit against Lively and Reynolds, which was ultimately dismissed. As of November 12, 2025, Baldoni is seeking to have Lively’s harassment claims dismissed. The trial is anticipated to commence in March 2025.

The exchanged messages offer a rare glimpse into the underlying tensions on set and the support Baldoni garnered during this turbulent time. It underscores the intricate dynamics between high-profile actors and sheds light on the challenges posed by professional disputes in Hollywood.
