In a proactive move to ensure safety, the Royal Thai Army is ramping up its efforts to create bomb shelters along the Thai-Cambodian border. This initiative is designed to protect both civilians and military personnel in light of rising tensions.

General Phana Klaewplodthuk has spearheaded this effort, emphasizing the dual goals of national defense and civilian safety. The Army Civil Affairs Department, alongside engineering units and border defense forces, is responsible for the construction of 182 shelters in strategically important regions.

Out of the total, the Burapha Task Force oversees 108 shelters, while the Suranaree Task Force is in charge of 74. Progress has been noteworthy since the project began in December 2025, with 117 shelters completed and another 65 in progress, marking an impressive completion rate of over 80%.

The Royal Thai Army has reiterated its dedication to the safety of local residents. They are also focused on reviving affected areas and implementing preventive measures, ensuring communities can return to their daily lives with greater security.
