Investigation Launched into Fire on Ever Lenient at Singapore Port

An investigation is underway by Singaporean authorities regarding a fire that erupted on the London-registered container ship Ever Lenient at Pasir Panjang Terminal. The incident, although concerning, was quickly managed, with no interruptions to port activity.

The Singapore Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) reported that the fire was effectively put out, and a detailed inquiry has commenced to explore its origins. Officials are collaborating with concerned agencies to thoroughly evaluate the matter.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force spearheaded the firefighting efforts, responding promptly to the emergency. Meanwhile, the MPA dispatched patrol boats to secure the area and utilized drones for aerial monitoring during the response.

Authorities confirmed that cooling measures are presently in effect to prevent any resurgence of heat that may reignite the blaze. These safety protocols are standard procedure in the aftermath of such events.

PSA Singapore is engaged in assisting the secure unloading of the impacted containers from the ship. Officials affirmed that all necessary safety precautions are in place to safeguard workers and ensure uninterrupted operations at the terminal.

The MPA highlighted that it was alerted to the situation promptly, mobilizing emergency teams, including three patrol crafts and firefighting units. Their unified efforts successfully contained the fire.
