Sheikha Latifa Launches 20th Art Dubai at Madinat Jumeirah

Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum inaugurated the landmark 20th edition of Art Dubai at Madinat Jumeirah, held under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The event is open to the public from May 15 to 17.

Marking two decades of cultural evolution, Art Dubai 2026 showcases the flourishing arts and creative sector in Dubai, reinforcing the emirate’s stature as a premier global cultural hub.

This year, the fair brings together a diverse mix of galleries, artists, and cultural institutions from both the region and worldwide. It emphasizes collaboration and cultural dialogue through a rich array of exhibitions, installations, talks, performances, and live events.

During the inauguration, Sheikha Latifa remarked that for 20 years, Art Dubai has exemplified the city’s cultural ambitions and openness. She emphasized its transformation from an art fair into an international network uniting artists, collectors, and institutions globally.

She further stated that this special edition illustrates the growth and resilience of Dubai’s cultural ecosystem, which is fostered by a commitment to collaboration and a belief in culture as a cornerstone for opportunities and progress.

Sheikha Latifa reiterated Dubai’s ongoing commitment to bolstering its position as an international cultural and creative center through investments in talent and platforms that foster creativity and meaningful exchanges.

During her visit to the fair, Sheikha Latifa explored several gallery showcases, including the “Made Forward” exhibition from the Dubai Collection, which examines themes of belonging and identity with contributions from over 20 private collections, including those of Sheikh Mohammed and Sheikha Latifa.

Additionally, she viewed a modern Arab art exhibition from the Barjeel Art Foundation, featuring vast installations and site-specific artworks throughout the venue.

While touring the event, Sheikha Latifa engaged with artists, gallery representatives, and cultural organizations. They discussed the evolution of Art Dubai over the years and its influential role in shaping the artistic landscape in the UAE and beyond.

Joining her were Benedetta Ghione, Executive Director at Art Dubai Group; Alexie Glass-Kantor, Executive Director at Art Dubai Group; and Dunja Gottweis, Director at Art Dubai Fair.

Art Dubai 2026 aims to enhance accessibility to art and culture by offering free entry to key areas and programs during the fair.

This year’s event features over 75 exhibitions from galleries, institutions, and program partners, showing strong regional presence along with international participants from nearly 20 nations. It is proudly presented in collaboration with A.R.M. Holding and supported by notable cultural institutions.
