His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Deputy Prime Minister, assessed the ongoing developments on the Jumeirah Beach 1 project, a key initiative by Dubai Municipality toward enhancing public beach amenities and waterfront experiences.

Accompanying His Highness on this visit were notable figures, including His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, active President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority; His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, dedicated Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence; and His Excellency Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti, Secretary General of The Executive Council of Dubai.

His Excellency Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, provided an update revealing that the project is now over 95% complete. Encompassing a stretch of 1,400 metres, this redevelopment offers a significant redesign and enhancement to the beach's infrastructure and facilities.

Set to welcome the public in early February, the project promises a comprehensive coastal haven. New additions will feature cutting-edge recreational and sports facilities alongside family-oriented amenities, and dedicated tracks for pedestrians, cyclists, and joggers aimed at promoting active lifestyles throughout the community.

Sheikh Hamdan emphasized Dubai's commitment to advancing global standards in urban development through sustainability and community-focused designs. He highlighted the integral role of infrastructure projects in boosting well-being, livability, and resilience.

“Our vision is to create a smart, future-ready city fortified with advanced infrastructure, exemplary public spaces, and high-quality beaches that provide integrated services,” His Highness remarked. He underscored that public beaches form a fundamental aspect of Dubai's urban identity and reflect its dedication to elevating the quality of life for residents and tourists alike.

The Jumeirah Beach 1 initiative aligns with the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033 and is part of the broader Dubai Urban Master Plan 2040, which emphasizes coastal development, accessibility, and sustainable transport networks.

Upgrades will also see health and service amenities improved, including international-standard restrooms, showers, and changing facilities. New zones for various beach activities, temporary events, parking for vehicles and buses, as well as electric vehicle charging points will also be integrated.

A highlight of Dubai Municipality’s smart beach initiative, the redevelopment incorporates advanced technologies such as complimentary Wi-Fi, electronic information displays, smart lockers, and AI-supported monitoring systems that connect to central control networks.

With climate resilience in focus, the project involves engineering strategies like beach level elevation and replenishing 250,000 cubic metres of clean sand to safeguard against rising sea levels and ensure long-lasting sustainability.

Furthermore, Jumeirah Beach 1 will create more than 15 investment opportunities spanning retail, dining, and beach-centered services, thereby stimulating economic growth and bolstering Dubai’s beach tourism sector.

Ultimately, the Jumeirah Beach 1 development epitomizes Dubai Municipality’s aspiration to transform public beaches into vibrant urban spaces that foster community well-being and solidify Dubai’s status as a top city for living, working, and visiting.
