England Urged to Rethink Strategy to Revive Ashes
After a poor start to the Ashes, England must change their game plan quickly, says former Australia
Sharon Osbourne has spoken for the first time about the heartbreaking final moments she shared with her husband, legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne, who died in July at age 76. The Black Sabbath frontman had battled severe health complications in recent years, including Parkinson’s disease, recurring infections and repeated bouts of pneumonia.
During a recent appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Sharon said Ozzy’s last words to her were tender and simple: “Kiss me. Hug me tight.” She recalled that the two had been awake through the early hours as he struggled to move back and forth to the bathroom. Around 4:30 a.m., he asked her to wake up fully and hold him close — a moment she now clings to with deep emotion.
The next morning, Ozzy went downstairs to exercise as he had often done despite his deteriorating health. Moments later, chaos erupted. Sharon said she heard screams and rushed to find paramedics trying to revive him after what she believes was a sudden heart attack. She immediately sensed that he was already gone, even as rescuers continued CPR and later airlifted him to hospital.
In the days leading up to his death, Ozzy had been experiencing vivid, unsettling dreams involving unfamiliar faces. Sharon said he spoke about these dreams often and seemed increasingly aware that his life was nearing its end. He even asked her whether she would ever marry again — a suggestion she instantly dismissed with humor and disbelief.
Despite warnings from his medical team, Ozzy insisted on performing one final show with Black Sabbath weeks before his death. Doctors told him the strain could kill him, but he was determined to take the stage one last time to thank fans for their decades of support. Sharon said he was in tremendous pain, having suffered sepsis, multiple infections and dependence on heavy antibiotics, but performing brought him pure joy.
Ozzy’s last performance saw him reunited with his original Black Sabbath bandmates for the first time in two decades. According to Sharon, he was overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, stunned by how deeply people valued him and his music.
The Osbourne family announced his death on July 22, surrounded by his loved ones at home. Thousands of fans later gathered on the streets of Birmingham — Ozzy’s hometown — as a funeral procession carried him through the city that shaped his life and career. Sharon, along with their children Jack and Kelly, followed the hearse and paused to read heartfelt messages left by grieving fans. A private family funeral followed the procession.
