Celebrating Jordanian Talent at the Sharjah Cultural Forum

Continuing its mission, the Sharjah Cultural Forum has hosted yet another vibrant ceremony, this time in Amman, spotlighting the rich contributions of Arab intellectuals within their native lands.

Under the esteemed patronage of Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, this 26th iteration recognized four notable Jordanian personalities.

The honorees included translator Dr Mohammed Asfour, critic Dr Nayef Al Ajlouni, writer and heritage research specialist Dr Ahmad Sharif Al Zoubi, and poet Mariam Al Saifi. This initiative signifies Sharjah’s unwavering commitment to honoring those in contemporary Arab literary culture.

This occasion marked the sixth time the forum has been hosted in Jordan, reinforcing cultural ties between the UAE and Jordan. The event unfolded at the National Library Department in Amman, attracting a diverse gathering of cultural leaders, scholars, and officials.

Among the attendees were Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Culture, along with members from the Jordanian Ministry of Culture. The gathering emphasized the robust relations and cultural commonalities shared by both nations.

In his address, Al Owais shared greetings from the Ruler of Sharjah, highlighting the forum’s expanding role as a platform that celebrates creative achievement and fosters knowledge as a cornerstone for human advancement. He referred to the event as a manifestation of fruitful synergy between the cultural institutions of the two countries.

Dr Nayef Al Ajlouni, representing the honorees, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the recognition, asserting that the forum transcends personal accolades to enhance broader cultural and intellectual dialogues across the Arab region.

The ceremony wrapped up with the award of certificates of appreciation, personally signed by the Ruler of Sharjah, celebrating the honorees’ remarkable literary and intellectual accomplishments.

An accompanying exhibition displayed an array of publications from the Sharjah Department of Culture, encompassing cultural journals and literary pieces, showcasing the emirate’s ongoing dedication to enriching the Arab cultural scene.
