Sharjah's Executive Council Endorses Cybersecurity Strategy for 2026-2031

On Tuesday morning, the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) convened at the Ruler’s Office under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.

Present at the meeting was His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Deputy Ruler and Vice Chairman of the SEC.

The assembly focused on key governmental policies and significant developmental initiatives designed to enhance public welfare and deliver services more efficiently through an integrated governmental approach.

Cybersecurity Developments Reviewed

The SEC also evaluated the progress of the Sharjah Cyber Security Centre (SCSC), which has been working diligently to establish a robust and interconnected cybersecurity framework throughout the emirate. The center's actions encompass raising cybersecurity awareness, developing workforce skills, and fortifying the overall information security system.

SCSC has launched numerous initiatives, such as incident management frameworks, the safeguarding of operational technologies, governance in information security, risk management strategies, and rapid response plans. They have conducted vulnerability assessments, scrutinized government websites, embraced four developmental paths, and organized over 20 technical workshops. Moreover, more than 175 government personnel from various departments have received training in cybersecurity competencies.

Cybersecurity Strategy 2026-2031 Approved

The SEC gave its backing to the Sharjah Cybersecurity Strategy (2026-2031), which aims to cultivate a resilient and secure digital landscape across the emirate. This strategy emphasizes enhancing institutional cybersecurity maturity and integrating security into government procedures.

The Council commended the Sharjah Cyber Security Centre's endeavors and highlighted the necessity of collaboration among all government sections to realize the ambitions of the new strategy and to implement international best practices.

Judicial Sciences Institute Decisions

Additionally, the Council took steps concerning the fee, fine, and reward structures of the Sharjah Judicial Sciences Institute. These decisions are aimed at bolstering the institute's ability to provide top-notch training and prepare skilled professionals for the legal and judicial spheres.
