US-based Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun’s group, Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), has called for a shutdown of singer Diljit Dosanjh’s show in Australia on November 1.
In a statement, SFJ said that Diljit Dosanjh had “insulted every victim of the 1984 Sikh Genocide” by touching the feet of Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan. The group accused Bachchan of inciting violence during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots with the slogan “Khoon Ka Badla Khoon” (Blood for Blood).
The outfit claimed this slogan had encouraged mobs to attack Sikhs, leading to the deaths of more than 30,000 people across India. Pannun said that by showing respect to Bachchan, Dosanjh had hurt the sentiments of the riot victims and their families.
November 1 has been declared as “Sikh Genocide Remembrance Day” by the Akal Takht Sahib.
The SFJ is a banned organisation under India’s Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for its anti-national activities. According to the Home Ministry, the group is involved in efforts to disrupt India’s sovereignty and internal security, and it maintains ties with militant outfits that promote separatism.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has registered several cases against Pannun, who faces over 100 criminal charges across India. These cases are being investigated by the NIA and by state police forces.
