Abu Dhabi is gearing up for a significant event as the Open Masters Games 2026 announces that it will feature 1,000 senior participants, facilitated by the Family Development Foundation and Barakat Al Dar Social Clubs. This revelation was made during the 8th Forum for Senior Citizens, coinciding with the International Day of Older Persons.

This initiative underscores a commitment to active ageing and community participation, aligning perfectly with the Masters Games’ mission of inclusivity. The games are open to individuals aged 30 and above, with swimming eligibility starting at age 25, encouraging entrants from all skill levels to celebrate lifelong sports.

The Family Development Foundation's participation seeks to broaden the prospects for older adults, allowing them to enjoy an international sports atmosphere while enhancing their health, physical activity, and social interaction. Barakat Al Dar Social Clubs will play a crucial role in motivating and preparing senior participants for confident engagement in the games.

Scheduled for 6 to 15 February 2026, the Open Masters Games in Abu Dhabi will be the largest international multi-sport event ever staged in the Middle East. Over 25,000 athletes are anticipated to take part across more than 30 sports, featuring six traditional heritage sports that honor the UAE’s rich cultural legacy.

Through its inclusive vision and varied sports offerings, the Abu Dhabi Masters Games aims to connect communities, enhance social wellbeing, and further establish the capital as a premier global sports hub.
