RTA Introduces E-Scooter Permit Application on All Digital Platforms

Post by : Bianca Hayes

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced an expansion of its e-scooter riding permit application service to all major digital platforms, significantly enhancing speed and accessibility for both residents and tourists.

Originally exclusive to the RTA website, applicants can now utilize the RTA Dubai app and the Dubai Now app for a hassle-free experience, removing the necessity to visit service centers. This effort is part of Dubai’s ambition to become the world’s leading smart city by promoting digital innovations and improving service efficiency.

User-Friendly Application Process

The e-scooter permit application process is designed to be straightforward and efficient. Users are required to complete an online theoretical test focused on e-scooter regulations, safety measures, and best riding practices. Upon passing, the permit is issued digitally via RTA’s smart communication channels.

The permit allows riders to use e-scooters in RTA-approved areas and roads, thereby ensuring safe and organized use of this eco-friendly transportation mode throughout the city.

Promoting Safety and Traffic Awareness

This e-scooter permit initiative is part of a broader regulatory scheme aimed at enhancing traffic safety, managing e-scooter traffic, and safeguarding all road users. The RTA has confirmed the ongoing availability of the service via its official website, providing users with a choice of platforms to suit their needs.

The RTA advises all e-scooter users who do not meet exemption criteria to secure the necessary permit before riding and to adhere strictly to traffic laws and safety guidelines to ensure public safety.
