Typically, the majestic Dhauladhar mountains captivate fans at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala, but on Tuesday night, the spotlight was firmly on Rajat Patidar. His incredible performance propelled the Royal Challengers Bengaluru into the IPL final once more.

In Qualifier 1, RCB triumphed over Gujarat Titans, thanks in large part to Patidar's sensational unbeaten innings of 93 runs off a mere 33 deliveries. His remarkable performance included five fours and an astonishing nine sixes, achieving a strike rate of 281.82.

This victory marks RCB’s second consecutive entry into the IPL final, further solidifying their ambitions of claiming the trophy again.

Patidar has established an exceptional playoff record. Across six innings in IPL postseason matches, he has amassed 338 runs at an impressive average of 112.66, with a striking rate of 193.14, inclusive of one century and two half-centuries.

His previous top score of 112 against Lucknow Super Giants in the 2022 Eliminator is hailed as one of the finest innings in RCB's IPL history.

At 32 years old, Patidar has emerged as one of the most formidable hitters in IPL playoffs, standing alongside Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, and Kieron Pollard for the most sixes in playoff history, totaling 24.

This season is proving to be Patidar's career high, as he has scored 486 runs in 13 innings, averaging 44.18 and boasting an impressive strike rate of 196.76. With five fifties to his name, including a top score of 93, he has also hit 41 sixes and 29 fours.

Post-match, Patidar commended his team’s aggressive approach.

“It was a great game for us. Our batsmen pursued with a positive mindset, which made a significant difference,” he noted.

He revealed that the team had earlier discussed embracing confidence and attacking their opponents right from the outset.

“We emphasized strong body language and an attacking philosophy because of the match's significance. Our dominance throughout was commendable,” Patidar asserted.

Detailing his batting strategy, Patidar mentioned that he usually gauges the pitch’s conditions before escalating his aggression.

“I typically take 8-10 balls to assess the pitch, and afterward, I aim to pressure the bowlers,” he explained.

Gujarat Titans’ Glenn Phillips also acknowledged Patidar’s performance, labeling him a formidable opponent when in form.

“He’s an exceptional player. When he finds rhythm, he’s hard to stop. He has a keen understanding of his strengths and plays with total confidence,” Phillips commented.

With momentum on their side, RCB is eager to continue their winning streak in the IPL final. Historically, the winner of Qualifier 1 has secured the IPL title 12 times in 15 seasons, providing another layer of confidence for Patidar and his squad ahead of the final.
