Leading Bahrain's delegation, Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani reiterated the nation’s dedication to the principles enshrined in the UN Charter. He underscored the significance of state sovereignty, non-interference, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.

Dr. Al Zayani pointed out pressing global issues like armed conflict, terrorism, humanitarian crises, and threats posed by climate change, health concerns, and cyber challenges. He stressed the need for the Security Council to bolster international collaboration and trust amid increasing multilateral pressure.

The minister drew attention to the plight of Palestinian citizens, advocating for enhanced international support toward achieving a two-state solution and expediting full UN membership for Palestine.

In addition, he expressed support for current international initiatives aimed at addressing the Gaza situation, which focuses on conflict cessation, reconstruction, and establishing a sustainable peace framework, referencing discussions led by Donald Trump under the "Board of Peace."

Highlighting the humanitarian aspect, he noted that conflicts disproportionately affect civilians, particularly women and children. He cautioned that ongoing global crises have aggravated food insecurity and displaced numerous populations globally.

He also welcomed diplomatic endeavors between the United States and Iran, facilitated by regional dialogues, expressing optimism for sustained progress toward enduring peace.

Dr. Al Zayani reaffirmed that resolving issues in Gaza, Yemen, Sudan, Libya, Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq is crucial for stability in the Middle East, alongside addressing wider regional security challenges.

He emphasized the significance of secure navigation in the Strait of Hormuz as vital for global commerce, advocating for its protection under international law.

Bahrain announced its forthcoming role in the Gulf Cooperation Council presidency and highlighted its active participation in the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

Anticipating its term on the Security Council (2026–2027), Bahrain aims to promote collaboration in women’s peace and security, youth activism, and digital advancement.

Dr. Al Zayani also emphasized the accountable application of technology and artificial intelligence to bridge the digital divide and counteract extremism.
