In response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Beirut, the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has initiated the distribution of emergency relief aid. This effort aims to support families who have faced conflict and displacement.
Working alongside the Lebanese Red Cross and the Ministry of Social Affairs, QRCS is ensuring that assistance reaches those in dire need. The aid distribution is being managed from QRCS’s office in Lebanon.
An impressive 20,700 individuals will benefit from this humanitarian initiative. The support provided includes 4,140 food parcels with crucial supplies as well as 3,741 hygiene kits, intended to assist families in maintaining their personal care during this challenging time.
The QRCS’s project team is actively collaborating with local partners to continuously assess needs and respond effectively to urgent conditions on the ground.
It is noted that over one million individuals have been displaced, leading many to seek refuge in public shelters or temporary accommodations, where living conditions pose serious difficulties. Many families face challenges in accessing essentials like food and hygiene products.
This initiative underscores Qatar’s commitment to supporting the people of Lebanon in their time of need. Furthermore, it emphasizes the partnership between the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and QRCS, dedicated to providing timely aid and contributing to recovery efforts within affected communities.
